A Super Sonic Update!

Super FamiCon celebrates 25 years of Sonic The Hedgehog with special guests, panels, and more!

He's been called The Blue Blur, the Speed Demon, the Big Blue, and the Fastest Thing Alive. But no matter what nickname you use, everyone knows about SONIC THE HEDGEHOG -- one of the most iconic video game characters ever created!

And since 2017 marks Sonic's 25th Anniversary, Super Famicon will be hosting a Sonic The Hedgehog tribute, featuring some of the creators behind SEGA and Archie Comics' long-running Sonic The Hedgehog comic book series! Writer Ian Flynn (who also worked on the animated TV series Sonic Boom) and artists Adam Bryce Thomas and Tracy Yardley will be invited guests at Super FamiCon, where they will greet fans, host panels, sell comics, answer questions, autograph merchandise, and draw sketches to commemorate 25 years of Sonic!

Since the first issue debuted in 1993, Archie's Sonic The Hedgehog comic book series quickly found an audience among the characters' most devout fans. The book was incredibly popular for many reasons, one of the biggest being Flynn's desire to incorporate characters and storylines from nearly all of Sonic's games and TV series into a massive, sprawling storyline that could even rival George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire."

The comic went on to spawn multiple spin-off titles, an official crossover with the Capcom character Mega Man, and running for decades and eventually becoming the longest running modern American comic book series until its hiatus which began after December 2016.

In Archie Comics' 12-part epic crossover, Sonic met Capcom's Mega Man in comics, long before they fought each other in Super Smash Bros. for WiiU.
