Super Famicon 2017 Featured Guest!

In 1989, Luke Edwards teamed up with fellow child actors Fred Savage & Jenny “Rilo Kiley” Lewis to star in “The Wizard,” the movie that would not only introduce Nintendo fans to the colossal hit release “Super Mario Bros. 3,” but also to the burgeoning world of Competitive Video Gaming & Money Matches. With nearly 50 acting credits to his name, Edwards starred in other hit movies including “Newsies,” “Little Big League,” “American Pie 2,” & “Jeepers Creepers 2.” He also starred in acclaimed TV series including “Roseanne” and “True Detective.” He currently has two new feature films in post production -- "The Super," which features a return performance by Val Kilmer, and the upcoming horror film “Malicious.”

Limited Run Games

Publisher

A publisher of limited run, physical games for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4, Limited Run Games focuses on bringing games that were previously only available in a digital format to a physical medium. The Criterion Collection of video games, they’ve also produced limited run releases of video game soundtracks on vinyl as well as ‘lost’ retro games. One of their most notable upcoming reissues will be for the controversial 1992 SegaCD game “Night Trap,” which was the subject of a US Senate committee hearing on video game violence and was subsequently banned from toy store shelves. Limited Run is based out of Apex, North Carolina and thrives under the ethos to preserve the physicality of video games and to fight its prophesied all-digital future.

Jeremy Parish co-hosts the Retronauts podcast, which focuses on classic gaming. He began writing about games more than 20 years ago, having contributed over the years to publications like 1UP.com, Electronic Gaming Monthly, USgamer, Computer Gaming World, Polygon, and more. Currently Jeremy lives in Raleigh, trapped in the middle of an ever-growing web of elaborate vintage console recording mechanisms.

Jon Irwin

Writer & Educator

Jon Irwin is a writer and teacher from Detroit, Michigan. His games criticism has appeared in The Atlantic, Billboard, Kill Screen, Kotaku, and Longreads, and he's a regular contributor to Paste and Gamasutra. His first book, “Super Mario Bros. 2,” was published by Boss Fight Books in 2014; EDGE Magazine named it one of the best videogame books to buy today, saying it "finds treasure in the nooks of the game's strange history." Before turning his attention to games, he wrote about drag-racing, golf, electronic music, cult film, food, and being an ice cream truck driver. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, son, cat, and dog.
